Meet the team leading Trussmaster:

David Horwell

Group General Manager – Operations

David oversees the group’s operations in Queensland and New South Wales including procurement, production, sales and marketing. He is responsible for all staff and their safety and focuses on minimising operational risk while optimising Trussmaster’s performance for quality, accuracy and efficiency.

David joined the family business in 2003 as a machine operator and proceeded with roles in detailing, sales and scheduling, before taking a General Management roll in 2012. His time on the factory floor has given him tremendous insight into the entire operation. This enables him to identify strategic opportunities, innovate in product areas and streamline operational procedures across roof trusses, frames, floor systems, laminated beams and timber treatment.  David has been integral in maintaining customer relationships and believes the more that Trussmaster can do at their end, the more valuable the partnership will be.

David holds a Bachelor of Banking and Finance – QUT.

Ben Horwell

Group General Manager – Finance and Administration

Ben leads the Finance, Administration and Technical Design teams across the organisation. Prior to joining the family business in 2011, Ben enjoyed four years with two of the ‘big four’ accounting firms and spent seven years with the Queensland Government, initially as Director of Internal Audit then as Regional Manager.

Ben’s work philosophy is that organisational culture is the primary value of any business or work unit, and this begins at the top. Ben is responsible for financial and statutory reporting, office processes and design centre functions.  He has created a  high-quality team environment with clearly designed, documented and standardised job tasks. Ben’s attention to detail and personal accountability is fundamental to Trussmaster’s provision of site-support and design solutions to builders.

Ben holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) (Hons) – QUT. He was previously a Chartered Accountant and a Certified Internal Auditor.

Scott Moodie

Trussmaster NSW General Manager

Scott Moodie joined Trussmaster QLD in 2003 as a trainee estimator and soon demonstrated himself as a reliable, conscientious, and intelligent member of the design team. Scott proceeded with management roles in both design and manufacturing departments before moving to NSW to become Trussmaster’s General Manager in 2016. Scott has been integral to the growth and success of our NSW facility in recent years. Scott leads by example, contributes to staff development and fosters customer relationships with our NSW-based builders.

Ryan Head

Technical Manager Queensland

Ryan joined Trussmaster in 2016 as an entry-level trainee and now manages our Queensland team of detailers, estimators and trainees. With a hands-on style, Ryan works to ensure all technical staff are focused on accurate and cost-effective design outcomes. He is an extremely capable work-flow manager and ensures any site-based technical issues are solved immediately.

Lawrence Mackaway

Technical Manager – Trussmaster NSW

Lawrence Mackaway is an experienced Technical Manager, overseeing our NSW team of detailers, estimators and trainees. He has strong technical building knowledge and continues to ensure our detailing and estimating remains cost-effective, accurate, and is delivered on schedule. Lawrence has a reliable and diligent work ethic which sets a good example for the design team.

Chris Nicol

Qld Production Manager

Chris Nicol joined Trussmaster in 2014 as a jig-hand and has become a key member of our Queensland operation. Chris is a well-respected production manager and is responsible for ensuring our staff are safe and effective, timber is processed efficiently, equipment is well-maintained, and our products meet the highest standard. Chris is known for leading by example and has established a very positive culture on our factory floor.

Michael Sparks

Production Manager – Trussmaster NSW

Michael Sparks joined Trussmaster in 2015 as a jig-hand in our Queensland facility.

Michael immediately demonstrated his outstanding work ethic and soon took responsibility for several key functions in the factory. In 2017 Michael moved to NSW to become our Production Manager where, along with Scott Moodie, he has become integral to the growth of Trussmaster NSW. As production manager Michael is responsible for staff safety, factory processes and plant maintenance. Furthermore, he ensures the quality of our products meet our customers’ expectations.

Tanya Noffke

HR & Compliance

Tanya Noffke has been with Trussmaster since 1998 and is responsible for HR management, payroll, and Workplace Health and Safety compliance. She is an extremely capable office administrator and as a long-standing employee Tanya has taken a lead role in establishing our work-place values and culture.

Nik Hatzakis

Production Manager – Laminated Beams

Nik Hatzakis oversees our glue-laminated beam production in Queensland. Known for his attention to detail and knowledge of all things mechanical, Nik is responsible for the manufacturing process and product compliance. Having spent five years in various manufacturing roles within Trussmaster, Nik is an experienced and competent production manager.

Jeremy Doughty

Production Manager – Timbertec Treatment

Jeremy is the production manager at our timber treatment facility. He has a good understanding of the chemical treatment process and adheres to strict guidelines to ensure all Timbertec products meet the Australian Standard. Working as a team with Peta, Jeremy works hard to ensure we meet the expectations of our wholesale customers.

Peta Smith

Sales – Laminated and Treated products

Peta Smith joined our business in 2011 and is responsible for the sales and scheduling of our laminated and treated products. Peta ensures orders are received, scheduled and dispatched error-free and on-time. With an outstanding work ethic Peta has built long-term relationships with our wholesale customers.
